BT Thanks Limany: for Outstanding and Continuous
Community Service and Leadership Bangalee Trawally April 2, 2009 Words
are inadequate to express how much we appreciate what you are doing
for humanity. It’s often said that give a man his flower while he is
still alive. It’s in light of this we are delighted to give your
flower now. When-ever an official of LIMANY travels to Liberia, we
get overwhelm with joy knowing that something will come out of that
trip to make us (The Mandingoes) proud.Just in the recent past, the web master of LIMANY Mr. Ansumana Randolph Jabateh went to Liberia, along with friends from I- Help Liberia, INC., and displaced the wonder of science through their technical know-how. They traveled to five counties in Liberia conducting workshops for science teachers and students at various school campuses; while at the same time distributed some sophisticated scientific equipment and lap top computers free of charge. Renowned institutions like The University of Liberia, BWI, Lott Carey and Ganta Methodist School among others benefited from these workshops. Again, few years ago, LIMANY’s President Mr. Abraham Turay took similar trip to Liberia and distributed a lot of things including medical equipment to hospital and clinics. JFK Memorial Medical Center was one of the beneficiaries. He also randomly distributed assorted things: clothes, books, shoes etc. to deserving needy people, and reached out to mosques and churches alike. And given the culture of guilt by association syndrome in Liberia, we must be sensitive to whatever one does from your tribal group, be it good or bad. It’s because of these reasons, we concord with Jesefu Keita of Monrovia, when he raised a red flag on something that concerned him. Chances are we can suffer the consequences of any negative thing one does from our ethnic group. Equally so, I must celebrate these remarkable things Limany is doing, something that we will make reference to, someday to someone out there. Even though we have not physically contributed to these worthy cause, but still feel proud that an organization, which we are ethnically associated with is reaching out to all Liberians irrespective of tribe or religion. Unfortunately, some of us will go to Liberia only to lobby for government positions while masquerading in the name of the Mandingoes. I pray and hope that one day the Almighty Allah will make us to do better. The last time we were in Liberia, we were seen bouncing around town with one of the worse anti Mandingo ever known in human history. Well, perhaps we did not know at the time or were just indifference to the plague of the people we claim to represent. Forgive us folks for our short comings. At the moment, all we to say is: thank you LIMANY for stepping up in the place for us. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Thanks, Bangalee Trawally 612-578-5728 or batrawally@yahoo.com |
