A Position Statement on the TRC Report- a critical Note
to Liberians and the government of Liberia
S. Mohammed A. Swaray
August 31, 2009
Fellow
Liberians and members of government, the Truth and
Reconciliation Commission established as a result of the
Comprehensive Peace Accord in 2003, in Ghana, concluded
its mandate periods in June 2009; with a submission to
the National House Assembly its report. The government
and citizens of the Republic of Liberia are entirely
left with the choice of reposing trust in the content of
the report to either implement it in the best or worst

Soldier dies soldier takes place” is an
adage we heared a lot when we were growing up. Meaning
at this time in the Liberian political circle the race
to fill the void left in the wake of the death of Hannah
Brent, Junior Senator for Montserrado County. Ms. Brent
was a partisan of CDC. Her death has opened the chance
of by-election to be held in three months in accordance
with the Liberian Constitut ion. Wh ile the junior
senator is just being buried, politicia ns are already
jockeying to replace her.

As Nigeria continues to metamorphose for the worse,
citizens equally continue to adjust to accommodate for
the hard times. A picture, they say is worth a thousand
words. Below, the pictures are worth tons of misery.
Sometime last week, our sister and daughter Mrs. Oyibo
Afoaku tried to send these pictures but I was unable to
download them.

Sekou Kenneh responds to Quardu Gboni Board Chairman,
Mr.Vamadu Sheriff's Baseless Article
By: Sekou Kenneh
August 28, 2009
Thank
you for responding to my recent article on Quardu Gboni.
Mandingo unity is very important to all of us. First of
all, for the benefit of you and our distinguished
readers, I encourage you to go back and reread my
"message of unity". I think that will help you better
understand the article that you are trying to distort.
Your mischaracterization of me in your response suggests
to me that you didn't read the article yourself or if
you did you didn't comprehend its contents. Therefore, I
propose if for any reason that you're unable to
differentiate between the definition of SUGGESTION and
DEMAND, please revisit your lexicon, encyclopedia or
thesaurus.

CRITICAL ISSUES OF NATIONAL CONCERN

WHEN THE VICES GO AROUND AND AROUND:
WHO TAKES THE BLAME?
Ibrahim Al-bakri Nyei

What
is emerging as a blow to development efforts initiated
by this current leadership under President Ellen Johnson
Sirleaf, and also against the general aspirations of the
people to move the country forward on a trajectory
acceptable to advance human civilization and
international standards is not only found in the widely
public outcry against corruption in government. Every
other government has suffered this in the history of our
country. It is in a cycle of mistrust, distrust, lack of
patriotism from within government, civil society, and
the general citizenry.

Ansumana Jabateh Challenges the Mandingo Community
By Nvasekie N. Konneh
August 21, 2009
On
Saturday, August 16, 2009 on Woodland Avenue in
Philadelphia, Ansumana Jabateh was the guest at the
forum organized by the Independent Intellectual Forum of
Philadelphia. He did not come with any prepared script.
So he was at liberty to say whatever was on his mind.
For some people, this was an opportunity for Ansumana
Jabateh to clarify the controversial remark he is quoted
to have made sometime ago. That is to say he’s not “in
favor of Mandingo unity.” For all those who wanted this
clarification from him, they were disappointed that he
kept repeating the same phrase throughout his
deliberation.

Gracious The Merciful
By Bro: Musa
Sekou Fofana of Atlanta
August
Allah
(Subhanahu wataalah) has blessed our community again. He
has allowed us to see another Ramadan so that we can
benefit from the abundant blessings and mercy he
promised his servants who will observe the holy month of
Ramadan in good faith. This month is an opportunity for
us to get our acts together so that our sins can be
forgiven. As it is narrated that the prophet (PBUH)
said: “The beginning of the Ramadan is forgiveness from
Allah, the middle is mercy from Allah and the last part
is freeing the devoted ones from hell fire.”

LIBERIA: Inter-Country Adoption: The Horrible Ripple
Effects of False Accusation
Francis W. Nyepon
August 14, 2009
The horrible, false accusations with which the Ministry
of Health and Social Welfare (MOH) smeared the
reputation of the West African Children Support Network
(WACSN) in a dispute over bogus charges of child
trafficking are having an adverse ripple effect on the
image of Liberia in the United States. It can be recall
that several months ago, the Deputy Minister of Social
Welfare in the Ministry of Health, Mr. Joseph Geebro,
granted interviews to media outlets in the United States
disseminating misleading and ambiguous information about
Inter-country adoption in Liberia involving WACSN.
