Simple Reality of National Development Series 29
Change in Mind and Change in Attitude and the Credibility Issue in Government

October 29, 2009
Introduction
Praises and recognitions are often accorded to people when they have succeeded in changing their “minds and attitudes” or have had a positive turning point in their lives for a new chapter to move on with new challenges in life. In contrast, when an icon championing a national drive for citizens to change their minds and attitudes towards themselves, others and the state is entangled into a negative turning point and enmeshed in the webs of financial mad-practices, corruption charges and misappropriation of state funds, then, the entire essence for “change in mind and attitude” becomes deceptive and lies and with dubious intentions. In series 16 of Simple Reality of National Development, I mentioned that “change in mind and attitude” was a mere lips service initiative skewed to attracting popularity and social essence. Read

Source: MandingoNations.com
October 28, 2009

Some credible members of the Minnesota Mandingo Association (MMA) have decided to boycott the up coming FELMAUSA'S Inauguration program until the Board Chairman-elect Mr. Abe Kromah can publicly apologize for his official misconduct, by directing his premature insults to the people of Minnesota. And we will also stay out of all FELMAUSA'S activities as long as Abe Kromah remains the Chairman of the FELMAUSA'S Board of Directors.

Jackson delivers on `This Is It,' early fans say

Published: 10/28/09, 9:05 AM EDT
By SANDY COHEN; Associated Press
LOS ANGELES (AP) - "Michael Jackson's This Is It" premiered to high praise from fans who applauded at each number as though they were at a concert and marveled as the singer stepped nimbly through his moonwalk and other signature moves.

Jackson, 50 when he died last June, kept pace with backup dancers half his age during rehearsals for such hits as "Thriller," "Billie Jean," "Beat It" and "Human Nature." The film was shot as Jackson prepared for a marathon concert stand in London that never happened. Read

Credibility Issues the Public Sector

The Expression “You are fired”
I am not sure of the managerial skills and understanding of the Board chairman of the National Port Authority but as a passionate practitioner of Human Resource Management (HRM), the expression “you are fired” or dismissed must never be mentioned in public for any reason. For the purpose of enlightenment, the procedure for firing employees comes through stages of investigation, warning, suspension etc, and any reason should dismissal be certained; it must be done professionally and in conjunction with the labor statutory ordinance of the state. Moreover, firing employees from jobs has its societal stigma; therefore, it must be treated confidentially in closed door because of its impact on people in society. Read

Press Release: Minister Konneh Addresses LIMPAC's Organized Workshop
Submitted by: Sidiki Trawally
October 14, 2009
Macroeconomic policy analysis in Liberia is blurred and lacks the appropriate and systematic collection, observes the Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs of Liberia, Hon. Amara Konneh.

In his brief address to participants of the three-day workshop organized by the Liberia Macroeconomic Policy Analysis Capacity Building Project (LIMPAC) Tuesday, Minister Konneh noted that at its stands, the policy also lacks basic compilation and analysis of data on key economic indicators to construct a model for interpretation. The Dynamics of Evil and Good in Political Societies

October 12, 2009
Introduction
Franchise is political right that decides the basis for progressive changes in societies. Most governments in Africa, especially in the last 100 years imposed themselves on states’ institutions and perpetrated themselves in political authorities at the detriment of the state and its citizens. The legacies of these oligarchic leaderships on the continent of Africa were as the results of coup d'état, or revolutionary movement, bloody overthrow of legitimate government or rebellious invasion. Open Letter to the Chairman of the Mano River Union
Ibrahim Al-bakri Nyei
October 5, 2009
This is my second time writing with to you since you took over the leadership of our war-ravaged country. Over the years, I have made attempts to call your attention and the attentions of other decision makers, the citizenry, and the international community to major issues relevant to the socio-economic conditions of our people, the sustenance of the peace, the nurturing of our nascent democracy, and the overall development of our country. Scramble Over LCA/DFW: Three Presidents?
By: Ralph Henri
October 4, 2009
The Liberian Community Association of DFW is on the verge of having three presidents if members and leaders within our community do not step up and bring a halt to what is set to split this community into three different groups. No one wants to discuss the issues in public but secretly discusses among themselves. One would be blind or deaf not to see or feel the tension and division that are gradually becoming a reality in the Liberian D/FW Community. Read

YOUTHS AND THE GROWTH OF DEMOCRACY IN LIBERIA
Ibrahim Al-bakri Nyei
October 1, 2009
A wave of transformation is blowing across the world. It is blowing from all hemispheres, and even those who stand to detest it in support of traditional leadership systems, ironically accept some of its tenets. This wave is gradually sweeping across Africa, and Liberia is rising up to the moment to benefit from the goods that come with it. It is breaking down the wings of tyranny; disestablishing oligarchies shaking the foundations of imperial and autocratic rules. It is implanting the popular will of the people as the most appropriate means of governance. It is installing justice, and awakening common people to the light of government.
