DUKULY REACTS TO MANDINGO NATIONS’ STORY

The
President of the Federation of Liberian Mandingo Associations in
the U.S.A is reacting strongly to reports on Mandingo Nation’s
website that he planned to resign his post.
According to the report, President Mohammed Dukuly was scheduled
to resign on Sunday July 4, 2010 at FELMAUSA’s national
convention in Philadelphia. Speaking to FELMAUSA NEWS recently,
President Dukuly proclaimed that under no condition had he
spoken to anyone about resigning. He described the report as
baseless and unfounded. President Dukuly disclosed that he is
taken aback because there are no plans in place for such action.
He said, the story did not name any source, and as such he would
not give it credence.

Thursday June 24, 2010…The Minister of Public Works Atty. Samuel
Kofi Woods, II says the Government of Liberia will do all it can
to address the current emergency flood situation in Monrovia and
its environs.
The Minister, who along with the Minister of Lands, Mine and
Energy and the Manager Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer
Corporation toured some of the seriously affected areas, said he
and his colleagues undertook the assessment exercise in order to
see for themselves and understand the extent of the damage
caused by the flood.
Accompanied by an array of Public Works officials and
independent journalists, Minister Woods and colleagues visited
the Spring Field area adjacent to the Fish Market, Old Road
Junction, 12th Street community and central Monrovia.
NAMSAL Awards Six Scholarships

June 28, 2010) The National Muslim Students Association of
Liberia has announced six scholarships for deserving and
high-ranking students of the Jafaria Islamic School on Camp
Johnson Road. The scholarship for the students was disclosed at
the official closing and graduation ceremony of the school for
the academic year 2009 – 2010.
Making the disclosure, the President of NAMSAL, Ibrahim Al-bakri
Nyei who served as Honoring Officer during the occasion
admonished the students to be committed and focused in their
pursuit for quality education as they strive to be good and
productive citizens. He reminded the gathering of the commitment
of NAMSAL to promoting academic excellence and competition
amongst students in Liberia.

in Burundi are casting their ballots in a presidential election
in which the outcome is already clear.
The serving President Pierre Nkurunziza is the only candidate
still running after all his opponents pulled out.
The ballot is the first since the last of the country's rebel
movements agreed last year to a ceasefire and to join elections.

the second day of her official visit to Kuwait, President Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf on Monday opened the new Embassy of the Republic
of Liberia near Kuwait City, heralding the start of a
strengthened bilateral relationship between the State of Kuwait
and Liberia.
In remarks made at the opening ceremony, the President said she
was pleased that the relationship had been “reactivated,” and
that the two countries could now “begin to rebuild upon that
historic and important relationship,” and together promote the
development of Africa and strong partnership and relationship
between the Arab States and the African continent.

explosions at a political rally in Nairobi have left at least
six people dead and more than 100 others wounded.
Sunday's explosions occurred at a prayer meeting in the Kenyan
capital organised by church leaders and politicians campaigning
against a proposed new constitution. The Kenya Television
Network (KTN) reported that there were two blasts at the Uhuru
Park.

Al and Tipper Gore to separate after 40 years

Tenn. – Former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper,
are separating after 40 years of marriage.
According to an e-mail circulated among the couple's friends and
obtained by The Associated Press on Tuesday, the Gores said it
was "a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made
together following a process of long and careful consideration."
Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider confirmed the statement came from
the Gores, but declined to comment further.
